Association Member wins prestigious Award
Proudly South African Awards Longspan Gutters – Best Proudly SA Company Of The Past 10 Years.
Johannesburg: Proudly South African announced the winners of their 5th Annual HomeGrown Awards competition, sponsored by PetroSA, at a glitzy gala dinner on Thursday 29 September 2011.
The Homegrown Awards showcases homegrown, Proudly South African companies and organisations that are contributing to the growth of the South African economy by creating employment opportunities and also enhancing the reputation of South African products and services.
Member companies were able to submit entries in two categories only, with the highlight of the evening being the category, ‘Best Proudly SA company over the past 10 years’ award, which was awarded to none other than Longspan Gutters. This category criterion focused on how the company promoted the Proudly SA brand and campaign in its activities and marketing. The impact of the business operations on the environment. Improvement of the company’s’ products, services and operations. Their international quality management systems and how they have contributed to job creation and retention through their own operation as well as supporting local companies.
The event was well attended by more than 450 delegates, including special guests such as Cllr Parks Tau – Executive Mayor of Jo’burg, Mr Herbert Mkhize - Executive Director of Nedlac, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, Ms Baxolile Zwane – Vice President: Trade, Supply & Logistics for PetroSA, Mr Leslie Sedibe – CEO of Proudly SA and Advocate Dali Mpofu - Chairman of Proudly SA.
Says Leslie Sedibe, recently appointed Proudly South African CEO: “We applaud the winners for their great achievement and hard work. These are the companies that are role-models to small and big companies as these companies are committed to the values of being Proudly South African - to buying local to create jobs, to fair labour practice, environmental responsibility and to delivering high quality standards of goods and services. It is a real pity that some of South Africa’s leading corporations and listed companies are not members of Proudly South African, yet they often claim to be a Proudly South African company. I therefore use this opportunity to challenge each and every company in South Africa to become a Proudly South African member so that we can truly commit ourselves to working together as a nation to create jobs and eradicate poverty in our beautiful country.”
Says Ms. Baxolile Zwane, the acting Vice President: Trade, Supply & Logistics for PetroSA, “We are proud sponsors of this event and it is an honour for us to witness the greatness of our nation, through the efforts of these companies both big and small. Well done Proudly SA members, keep on flying the flag high so that others can follow.”
