The South Coast Regional Round Up - January 2012

Unusual for this early stage of the year, we are having great difficulty booking venues for meetings and events on the days that we would like to have them, hopefully this is indicative of an improving local economy.  

The vision for our region has long been to get more members involved and it was with this in mind, that we sent out our meetings and events calendar for the year as early as possible. The idea was to give plenty of notice and to ask that you please plan ahead by diarising the dates.

Regional meetings represent a great opportunity for you to find out what we have planned for the region and to have your say with regard to it. It is also a great opportunity to network with fellow colleagues in the industry and to make some new and exciting business contacts.

With Brandon Abdinor having left the Association at the end of 2011 and with Vikki Harbhajan succeeding him as Executive Director, there have been some changes to our management structure. Gary Amstutz has been appointed by our Executive Committee as Operations Director and is now also responsible for coordinating the efforts of the various regions. Regional managers have already met with Gary on several occasions and the objectives for the year have been agreed upon, included among them are planned member visits. Find out more!

The South Coast office will also be participating in the following projects this year.

Safety

• Safety consulting work for MTN at Mthatha which involves travel every second week.
• Safety consulting work for R&M Construction in Scottburgh every second week.
• Safety consulting work for Roeleveld QS in Shelly Beach.

Training:

The following training courses are soon take place at our Shelly Beach training facility. A notice will be sent out informing you of the dates and in order to avoid disappointment, we ask that you please make contact Marcia as soon as possible to book. Courses will include:

• Scaffolding erectors and inspectors,
• First aid
• Safety supervisors
