The project first required that the structure's roof be removed and extensions be carried out to the existing ground floor layout. In order to create a second storey, a concrete slab then had to be suspended, while the construction of the entire first floor level followed thereafter. Purpose made scissor trusses formed part of the process and a wrap around verandah on both ground and first floor levels were incorporated. Adding to the splendor of the home was the construction of a new exterior entrance and bar area, while the construction of a squash court completed the development.

House Cockerell boasts a double volume to the entrance hall with sweeping stairs that lead up to the first floor. There are engineer designed bay windows and all window and door openings have purpose made mouldings. Ceilings boast decorative ceiling roses.
