Jannie Matthee - Facilities Manager

Jannie was born and educated in Cape Town. He was employed by Transnet and as he progressed within the company was transferred to Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and then Richards Bay.

His last posting saw him appointed as Labour Relations Manager and his responsibilities included, the implementation of the new Labour Relations Act and managing the Labour relations for the Coallink Business Unit.

With the growth of the Heavy Haul Coal Line, he was later promoted
to Human Resources Admin Manager and was responsible for the pay programme, as well as implementing and managing policies & procedures. Jannie gained extensive experience in conflict management, resolving interpersonal issues and disciplinary processes.

Jannie achieved a Labour Relations Certificate from the University of Pretoria as well as a Diploma in Industrial Relations and Labour Law. He also completed a training programme in Business Accounting and Finance, as well as a Management Development Program at Rand University and the University of Pretoria.

Due to Transnet restructuring processes, Jannie left the Coal Line for a construction company in London in 2003 and on his return from London, became the owner/manager of a Cash Converters franchise.

Jannie joined Master Builders Association in October 2008 as the Facilities Manager responsible for procurement and maintenance.
