"The New Mary Theresa Hospital", by WBHO/Azcon JV
Overcoming major obstacles is all in a day's work for the multi award-winning WBHO team, who took the award in the Health facilities category last year as well. Together with joint venture partner Azcon they poured their hearts and souls into creating the new Mary Theresa Hospital in the Eastern Cape's Mount Frere.
Spread over a 1km radius, the project consisted of 22 single-storey buildings linked by covered walkways and a double-storey unit, which was built to house administration offices, out-patients, casualty and maternity facilities.
White embosses vinyl-clad suspended ceilings, with vinyl patterned floor coverings give the hospital a warm feel, while stainless steel balustrades, curved bulkheads and high-voltage lighting enhance the foyer and entrance.
Congratulations to WBHO and Azcon JV for a positive "can do" attitude and outstanding workmanship under difficult circumstances.
HIGHLY COMMENDED PROJECTS | "Margate Hospital" by WBHO Construction (Pty) Ltd Renovating and enhancing a fully operational hospital was just the giant hurdle that EBHO Construction successfully overcome during this complex project.
Phase one included the alterations and additions to the surgical and pediatrics wards and the administration block.
The second phase consisted of renovations to the medical wards, the refurbishment of existing wards, and the removal of fibre cement ceilings and their replacement with new ones. Next were the additions to the pharmacy and workshop, as well as upgrades to the theatre, private wards, staff facilities, workshops, kitchen and a new Net-café Coffee shop.

 | "Alberlito Hospital", by WBHO Construction (Pty) Ltd Regarded as a complex project, WBHO impressed Netcare with the quality of work and care that went into the construction of the three-storey Alberlito private hospital.
The hospital boasts a pharmacy, trauma units, X-ray departments, intensive care unit, surgical ward, medical ward, operating theatre complex, GI unit and staff facilities, as well as 188 parking bays, a landscaped garden and views of the Indian Ocean amongst other amenities.
The client was impressed with the finishes of the building and credited WBHO with an 'excellent' over-all performance. |
