"Pearls of Umhlanga – The Dawn", by Group Five / Pandev Joint Venture

The Dawn forms part of a Development called The Pearls of Umhlanga.  The Development is situated on the beach front and provides 92 upper class units.  The building is a twenty four storey concrete structure clad in glass. The upper three floors form two ultra luxurious penthouses.

The main core rises out of four levels of basements and houses four lift shafts, forming a chisel shape feature at the top of the building.  The building has a wedding cake effect reaching the ninth floor where it reduces to four units per level for the balance of the structure.

The main structure is formed from concrete columns and slabs with brick infill. The vario system supplied by Peri Wiehahn was used in the formation of the main lift core, while multi form decking supplied by Formscaff was used for the balance of the slabs.
