Company Information

Alifab is the fabrication division of Ampliform (PTY) LTD. Ampliform was incorporated in 1984 and has been recognised as a leading manufacturer of aluminium products since then. Ampliform has been involved in a number of exceptional projects over the years and is proud of their association with most of the major players in the South African Industry.

Ampliform is a privately owned company, based in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. The company operate out of a 800m2 factory based in Mkondeni Pietermaritzburg. We have been part of the Pietermaritzburg business comunity since the inception of the company in 1984, however, not operating out of the same premises all the time.

The company is proud to be a member of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business and is actively involved in the growth and development of the city and its people. The company has a BBBEE contribution rating of Level 2 and we are proud of this achievement.

Projects undertaken unclude:

Millennium Dome:

The Millennium Tower was built on the Bluff at the entrance to Durban Harbour to celebrate the new millennium. The lower section of the tower is reinforced concrete with the top section being aluminium. Pat Duffy of Vauda Thornton Consulting Engineers carried out the design in consultation with the staff at AliFab. Alifab detailed and manufactured the truncated cone and the structural projects department of Portnet erected it.

Gantry Durban:

Alifab designed, manufactured and installed a gantry in conjunction with BKS Consulting Engineers. The gantry had to be assembled inside the reservoir as it was a fully enclosed structure. A major challenge as managing the corrosion as the gantry would be partly submerged during the operating cycle of the reservoir. The reservoir was 120m in diameter the gantry has to rotate around the central tower.

Pool Enclosure, Cape Town:

Alifab designed, manufactured and erected a pool enclosure for an olympic size swimming pool at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town. The structure spanned 44m in order for it to include grandstands.
