When MJ Cheater & Co, a well- established and respected Industrial Roofing Contracting company from Johannesburg (founded in 1967), decided to expand to Natal, MJ Cheater (Natal) was formed in 1981.

MJ Cheater & Co had, since inception, been proactive in training and advancing PDI's (Previously Disadvantaged Individuals), and when a Management Buy-Out of the Natal operation took place in 1994, it came as no surprise that one of the three new owners and directors of MJ Cheater (Natal) came from this group. Magezi Baloyi, while maintaining his stake, status and involvement in MJ Cheater, has since expanded his interests by forming his own focussed roof contracting company, MS Baloyi Roofing (Pty) Ltd, in which MJ Cheater (Natal) has a minority 26% stake.

MJ Cheater was one the very first Roofing Contractors in Natal to obtain full Certified Erector status with all the major South African roofing material manufacturers in our field.

We are a full-service roofing and contracting company, offering free quotes ( from BOQ's or drawings), project budget assistance, comprehensive technical support including unbiased advice on product selection, and back-to-back guarantees from all leading suppliers.

MJ Cheater is capable of taking on projects of virtually any size, having an enviable track record of performance on Southern Africa's largest and most prestigious projects. Although we primarily operate in Kwazulu-Natal, we have undertaken significant projects elsewhere in Southern Africa, and will continue to do so selectively.

We specialize in profiled aluminium, fibre cement and steel roofing and cladding, re-roofing, ventilation and associated sheet metal work for the Industrial, Petrochemical and Commercial markets.

We have our own fully equipped sheet metal workshop where we fabricate our flashings, ventilators, louver's and rainwater goods.
