Smith and Winfield are a leading professional Painting and Decorating Contractor, based in Durban and carrying out work in KwaZulu-Natal.
The company was founded in 1886 and since then has been responsible for the painting and decoration of many of the region's prestigious buildings.
Honesty and integrity are the founding principles of our relationships with our clients, suppliers, subcontractors and staff and the business has a strong commitment to social development and training.
We deliver a professional service and product - on time and to the highest quality standards, with the safety and care of our operators, our clients, the public and the environment of prime consideration.
How we work
All work is carried out professionally using trained and skilled painters and artisans, under the supervision of our foremen and contracts mangers. We use the best materials and painting/waterproofing systems, which we have developed over the years.
We adhere to strict safety standards for the sake of our employees and our client's protection.
We undertake our work efficiently, with minimal disruption to our clients and in compliance with their programmes and requirements.

Training Centre
The Smith & Winfield Training Centre has been in existence for approximately 5 years during which time 15 Construction Painter learnerships have been completed and 48 learners have completed short courses ( 45 days) in Painting and Decorating.
Smith & Winfield was established in 1886, and during its existence has been involved in the training of Artisans for the formal Building Industry. The management of Smith & Winfield has over the years been involved through the Building Industries Federation of South Africa (BIFSA) with the formulation of the training programmes, which were offered through the Building Industry Training Scheme.
