CLIVE HILL - FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER

Our financial services manager was raised and educated in Cape Town, but after his studies moved to Johannesburg where he served his legal articles with a large law firm specializing in insurance law.
After gaining admission as an attorney, Clive was tempted across to Southern Life as a legal adviser in its financial planning division. Southern transferred him to Durban. Here he gained experience in a wide range of financial planning strategies and specialist areas such as estate planning, business assurance, wills, trusts, income tax and investments. He assisted all the in-house agents of Southern in KwaZulu-Natal as well as the independent brokers who supported it, and became involved in a wide range of projects and managerial functions, including chairing a regional medical aid committee and sitting on the main board of trustees, product development and marketing.
Clive wrote the industry's professional exams and was admitted as a certified financial planner (CFP). He also passed the company secretarial exams (CIS).
When Southern Life dissolved, Clive moved to Fedsure, where he acted as senior legal adviser to the broker division and was invited to become a founding member of the SA branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP). At this time, CGT was introduced and Clive and his colleagues went on a national roadshow to explain this new tax to their clients.
After Fedsure was taken over, Clive moved to Sanlam where he acted in a similar capacity, covering the province, and becoming more involved with training new advisers and mentoring the paraplanners. He joined the Master Builders Association in August 2008, bringing with him a wide range of insurance and financial planning skills.
