2008 Regional Competition & Results

On 24 October 2008, the 45th annual Health and Safety Awards dinner was held at the Durban Country Club. More than two hundred delegates attended and bore witness to how the KwaZulu-Natal Master Builders pay tribute to members who excel in this competition.

The recipients were praised for their adherence to health and safety and when one considers the pressures, construction companies have, in recent times had to contend with, their efforts are exceedingly commendable.

Taking into consideration that sites were scrupulously audited on more than 20 different elements, standards were tremendously high. These included administrative and legal requirements, training, public safety, PPE, housekeeping, scaffolding, electrical safeguarding, plant and machinery, excavations, transport and material handling to name but a few.

Our Members came through with flying colours this year - no less than 8 entries received the presidential award for scoring more than 95%, and came first in their respective categories in the National OHS competition.
