Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal
Edition 9 - July 2009
Dear Members and Readers

This edition of your bi-monthly newsletter kicks off with an article on the Association's new Best Practice model.  For those of you who were unable to attend the launch of our new services and corporate identity in May, this will give you a very good overview and understanding of the thinking behind the initiative.

If you are facing lean times ahead or would like to position your business as a first mover in the new Energy Efficiency industry, the next article will introduce you to a very interesting opportunity.  The Association will be allocating a growing number of resources to this, so we can assist you on your journey.

Finally, we often get asked by prospective members what the Association does for its members.  The list of Member Services is growing every day and it is sometimes difficult to package the answer to this question in a meaningful manner.  Perhaps the best summary that we can offer is that we are here to Promote and Protect your enterprise and the Building and Construction Industry as a whole.

To this end, we are proud to announce an initiative which is aimed at promoting your business - the new Member News module.  For more information about this exciting tool, please read the article below.

Have a great week.

Best Practice Initiative

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal recently launched its Best Practice initiative.  If you were unable to attend one of our regional AGM's or the launch of our new corporate identity on 21 May 2009, this in-depth article will give you a complete overview on the Best Practice model, the reasoning behind the concept and information on the implementation process.

As always we welcome your comments and feedback.  At the end of the article, you will find a link to a thread on our new online forum, where you can post your questions, comments and suggestions.

energy efficiency: A new industry in the making

Energy Efficiency

With a few exceptions, it is inherent in the nature of business to look for new opportunities to grow and add to what already exists. In boom times, this is a way of increasing profitability by expanding operations. In lean times, new opportunities may mean survival when traditional business is simply not enough.

Generally new opportunities become apparent just by looking at existing activities or endeavours in a new way. Occasionally, genuinely new activities or endeavours manifest, and the proactive and adaptable will be the first to harness the opportunities that come with novelty.
