Sub-Contractor / Service Provider Participation In The Excellence In Construction Awards For 2010

 Sub-Contractors and Service Providers play a significant part in the construction procurement process and supply line. They also represent an important membership constituency of the Association.

Recognising this, a category for Sub-Contractors and Service Providers has existed in the Awards Scheme since inception but regrettably participation has been low. The Association is making a concerted effort now and in future years to ensure greater participation by these important role-players. This may be achieved in three ways.

Firstly, Main Contractors entering projects in the Excellence in Construction Awards in the past were encouraged to nominate Sub-Contractors or Service Providers as part of their entry. In practice, the nominations are made too late to allow for the separate processing of entries for those Sub-Contactors or Service Providers. To get around this problem, the Association appeals to Main Contractors to identify for the Association those Sub-Contractors and Service Providers, who are in to be entered in their own right. If this information is received timeously, steps can be taken to ensure separate entries by those Sub-Contractor and Service Providers identified.    .

Secondly, there are Sub-Contactors and Service Providers who may wish to submit entries directly in the category for SUB-CONTRACTORS AND/OR SERVICE PROVIDERS regardless of whether of not the Main Contractor is entering a project. In those instances, interested Sub-Contractors or Service Providers are invited to contact the Association for guidance as soon as possible.

Thirdly, there are Sub-Contractors and /or Service Providers who may in rare instances be involved in work of a Sub-Contract nature on special projects probably on direct contract and who may wish to enter the project in the category for SPECIAL PROJECTS .The entry of such projects should not present a problem .

Only members of the Association may enter projects in the Excellence on Construction Awards Scheme.
