South Coast Regional Round Up - July 2010

Community Project Team

From Left to Right: George Enslin, Mayor Cele, Hans Stols, Ray Basson

The long awaited move to our new premises in The Sentinel at the Shelly Beach Business Park eventually took place on the 26th of July 2010. A truck and crew sponsored by Ray Basson of Anthony and Basson Development, loaded up and carted off everything in what felt like the blink of an eye. Leaving our old Manaba premises was a surprisingly emotional experience, especially when the lady from Tile Africa next door came running out to hug me and to request that we rather stay. Several of the other neighboring businesses also came out to wish us well.

It was really fantastic to arrive at the very stylish well equipped new premises with its entire furnishings brand spanking new. The layout which was planned by Ray Basson, Gary Amstutz and myself, was done so with the intent of optimising space usage. A big thank you to all the contractors, who put in a tremendous effort to conclude the alterations. The official opening will take place on the 10th of August 2010 at 17:30 straight after the August Executive Committee meeting; also scheduled to take place at the new South Coast premises. President of the Association Mr. François Louw along with all the other Exco members, will be present at the opening function.

The Nyandezulu community project handover ceremony also took place on the 22 July 2010 with Ugu Municipality Mayor Sthembiso Cele and South Coast regional chairman Ray Basson, heading up proceedings. The ceremony took place at the site with an emotional beneficiary Alberta Gigaba, thanking everybody for their generosity. Shortly thereafter certificates were handed out to all who contributed. Once again our social responsibility project was an overwhelming success as acknowledged by the bigger community of Gamamlakhe. Ray oversaw the project management and ensured it ran smoothly and was completed within budget.

WELL DONE TO EVERYBODY.

Inbetween all these activities we were able to help the Association’s safety department with the judging of Health and Safety sites entered into the Safety Excellence Awards competition. We also managed to complete several additional safety audits and checks at various member sites. There has also been a noticeable increase in the number of enquiries we are receiving from Members wanting to utilise our services, this is something we indeed find encouraging.

To end off with, I would like to invite all our south coast members to visit our offices to see the new products and facilities, we are now able to offer.

Hans Stols | South Coast Regional Manager
