Regional Roundup, South Coast

Mayor CeleMaster Builders KwaZulu-Natal South Coast Members have a lot to look forward to throughout the February/March period with lots of exciting projects, meetings and events on the agenda. All aimed at enhancing and improving business.

In the month of  January, the Ugu district Mayor, Mr Sithembiso Cele requested that the Association and its Members again get involved with the Ugu Municipality in a new and much needed Community Project.

On 20 January 2010, Ray Basson, George Enselin of Wakefields and myself, visited the site of the proposed  new Community Project that will again uplift somebody’s life, and make a difference as only the South Coast Members can.

The circumstances that have prompted this, has again touched our hearts and, we as delegates, are confident that our Region will participate and commit, to this new altruistic project for 2010.

An article appeared in last week’s edition of The Fever wherein the Mayor again gave recognition to Members of the Association for their contribution towards the Gamalakhe Community Project; we participated in, in 2009.

In addition to the unique sense of fulfillment that comes with having made a difference in somebody else’s life, extensive coverage in both the Fever & Herald is a further incentive that cannot be overlooked.

The proposed project is a newly built dwelling consisting of one bedroom, kitchen and a bathroom to be erected at Nyandezulu on the Izotsha road north of Shelly Beach.

We invite all Members who would like to participate to forward me their details.  Building materials such as bricks, cement, sand and other, are what’s needed to construct this home. I have no doubt that the South Coast Members will once again take up the challenge and enhance somebody else’s life.

Meetings and Events:

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Training Manager, Victor Smith, is scheduled to run a Training Workshop on 18 February 2010 at the Port Shepstone Country Club. Starting time is 10:00 am, detailed notices will be sent through our normal channels.

Our first General Meeting for 2010 is scheduled for 17 March and will form part of a Road Show with department heads from our Westville office also presenting.  The new format is aimed at providing pertinent industry related information and also making an occasion of it. I am very excited about this new approach, the Road Show is to go to all the regions, further details and info is to be sent in due course.

The South Coast region will once again present a golf and tennis day in May and June months with booking and venue information to follow. As said in my yearend message let’s be team players and support all activities in our Region and hold the umbrella together.
