Dear Members & Readers
As the year draws to a close, we are pleased to announce that three of our new projects have recently come on stream.
The first is the SafeBuild DVD (insert link to website) which has now been available for a few months. The DVD has been very well received and is still available online or at our new retail outlet at the launch price of R997. Members of Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal are reminded that if they undergo their Safety Check before the end of the year, they will receive a FREE copy of the SafeBuild DVD. Members of all Master Builders Associations can purchase a copy at a discounted rate (less 15%) from their local Association.
The second project is our new Retail outlet which has been open for almost two weeks. Over the next few months we will be featuring some of the products and services that we offer, but for now you can scroll down and read the article below. We trust that you will support the shop, as this is yet another initiative aimed at providing both a convenient service to our Members and the Public, as well as generating income for the Association. The latter will insure that we can keep future increases of our membership subscriptions to a minimum.
Finally, as part of our Green Building Renovations, we have completely revamped our conference offering and now boast a host of new rooms that can cater for a range of meetings, training sessions and functions. Our rates are competitive and our new parking deck has almost doubled our capacity. All rooms are linked in to our new alternative energy system, which means our delegates are constantly hooked into clean power - even when the rest of Durban is without power. If you are planning a meeting or will be running a course in Durban, why not give Debbie a call for a quote.
We look forward to seeing all of our Members at the official launch of our new Building on 25 November 2010. If you have not already replied to the invitation please contact Shelly.

Voluntary Disclosure To Improve Tax Collections
Pravin Gordhan, the Minister of Finance, in the Budget Speech delivered during February 2010 announced the Voluntary Disclosure Programme (VDP) aimed at allowing the South African Revenue Service to improve tax collections. The object of the VDP is to allow taxpayers an opportunity, up to 31 October 2011, to disclose any prior tax defaults and receive relief from interest, penalties and prosecution.

Something Fishy Going On In Zululand
The Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Zululand Fishing Competition took place over the weekend of Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of November 2010. The weather didn't quite play its part with some preferring the sanctity of the club house over bad weather and intimidating seas.

Blogging Is Effective, Ask Julius !!!
About two weeks ago a photocopy of a letter to Business Day titled "Must I sacrifice my time to write a blog for work?" found its way onto my desk and whoever put it there, did not have the courage of their convictions to hand it to me personally and enlighten me with their opinion.
