JBCC Principle Building Agreement
JBCC documents are, with the contribution of highly proficient individuals, compiled in the interest of standardisation and efficiency. They represent the consensus view of the Joint Building Contracts Committee of good practice and an equitable distribution of contractual risk in the building industry.
The Principal Building Agreement is the cornerstone document and sets the parameters governing the primary contractual conditions that are applied throughout the document suite.
Many users find these documents daunting and as a result thereof, have sought effective, local, cost effective intervention.
On 3 November 2010, the Association hosted a seminar on the JBCC Series 2000, Principle Building Agreement, conducted by Roger Pickles.
Aspects covered were:
- the entitlement of the contractor to additional time and money
- the giving and receiving of notices
- security and guarantees
- contract instructions and their valuation
- the stages of completion
- the process of payment and the consequences if the Employer does not pay on time
Some comments made afterward were:
- Very useful information explained in a simple way
- Interesting outline and practicality in course content
- Thoroughly enjoyed
- All contractors should attend this course
- Very useful and satisfying
By participating in our future tutorials, developers, professionals, contractors, subcontractors and others related to the building industry will gain a wide-ranging understanding of the Agreement which is indispensable for the practical administration of the contract.
