Tribute Paid to two Association Employees
Tribute was paid to two of the Association’s employees at the Annual Regional Health and Safety Awards function that was held on 01 October 2010. More than 200 dignitaries and awardees attended this glamorous event, an occasion that is always a highlight on the Association's annual calendar.
Siven Naidoo of Stefanutti Stocks Building KZN who serves on the Association’s Health and Safety Committee spoke on behalf of the committee when he paid tribute to Neels Nortje, the Association’s Health and Safety Manager and Neil Enslin, the Association's Safety Advisor.
Siven had the following to say about Neels:
“I have waited for this opportunity a very long time. An opportunity to address my peers and to say thank you to a particular individual who has been an immense source of support to me in my early years in the safety field. The committee and many of you in the audience will no doubt agree that he has been the driving force behind improving health and safety in the construction sector in KZN. A name that has become synonymous with health and safety is Neels Nortje. Neels you have and always will be a source of inspiration to the members of our safety committee and to many in the audience as well. So on behalf of everyone I would like to say thank you very much for all that you have done for the industry, keep doing what you’re doing. As a token of our appreciation please accept this beautiful trophy which I hope will remind you how much we value what you do.”
The following was said about Neil:
“The wording on this trophy reads “Outstanding contribution to health and safety” and the efforts made by this individual in promoting the safety cause has been exactly that; OUTSTANDING. An immense amount of work goes into preparing and coordinating the annual regional competition, not to mention the function we are at tonight. Not just at competition time but throughout the year this individual has made himself readily available to assist and guide any and all contractors requesting help or information. With his guidance we have been able to win the 8 of the 10 awards in the MBSA National Safety Competition this year, 9 out of 10 last year and 8 out of 10 in 2008. The committee was unanimous on awarding this trophy to Neil Enslin”
