Safe-Build DVD Used in Midlands Toolbox Talk
Last week Friday Gareth and the team from the Association’s Midlands office were extremely proactive in promoting Occupational Health & Safety in their region. It was a good day for one particular construction site in that Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal paid them special attention by performing toolbox talks to several labourers on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
In order to resolve language barrier concerns, the Safe-Build DVD series was effectively put to use. The DVD settings menu gives users the option of 5 different languages to choose from (Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, English and Afrikaans) making it particularly effectual.
Midlands Regional Manager Gareth Roberts had this to say:
“There was no, "what am I going to talk about" or "will they understand" we simply selected the language, pushed a button and sat back and watched Safe-Build DVD do everything for us”
“In two 10 minute sessions, an entire site of workers were given the PPE toolbox talk in the language of their choice.”
Toolbox talks utilising this tremendous resource, is a service that the Midlands office intends providing on a regular basis going forward.
“Without a doubt, making use of the Safe-Build DVD goes a long way towards helping contractors achieve a safer site, for all their employees.”
