Election of Executive Council 2011/2012

The 110th Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held at 17:30 on Tuesday, 14 June 2011, at the Master Builders Centre, 40 Essex Terrace, Westville.

In terms of Articles 12 and 13 of the Constitution of the Association, nominations for the election of Office-Bearers and Members to represent the membership on the Executive Council are required to be submitted in writing to the Association on or before 24 May 2011.

Clause 13(6): Nominations are invited of suitable persons available for election as Office-Bearers of the Association.
   
Nominations for election of Office-Bearers and to the Executive Council shall be submitted in writing and lodged with the Executive Director at least 14 (fourteen) clear days prior to the Annual General Meeting.  A preliminary notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be forwarded to each member not later than 21 (twenty one) days prior to the date of such meeting in which attention shall be drawn to the provisions regarding nominations and notifying the date by which nominations must be lodged.  A list of the nominations received shall be posted to each member with the Notice and Agenda of the Annual General Meeting.

1.Office Bearers of the Association

Article 12(1): Nominations are invited of suitable persons available for election as Office-Bearers of the Association.

The Office-Bearers of the Association shall consist of not less than 3 (three) but not more than 5 (five) Vice-Presidents. The Vice-Presidents shall be members or representatives of Members and shall be elected by ballot at the Annual General meeting and upon election shall “ipso facto” members of the Executive Council.  One of the elected Vice-Presidents shall be elected as President of the Association.

2.Executive Council

Nominations are invited of suitable persons qualifying for election as members of the Executive Council.

Clause 13(2) The Executive Council shall consist of:

  • (i) The Office Bearers as defined in Clause 12; 
  • (ii) Not less than 7 (seven) and not more than 9 (nine) Member representatives;
  • (iii) A maximum of 3 (three) co-opted Members or representatives of Members of the Association;


Clause 13(3)

Only representatives from Full Members shall be entitled to serve on the Executive Council; provided that a maximum of 1(one) Associate Member representative may serve on the Council

NOTE:  It is a requirement that the consent of persons who are nominated must be obtained before a nomination be submitted.

Persons considered suitable for nomination are representatives of Contracting Members in good standing who are actively engaged in the Building Industry and executing construction works in a managerial capacity.

Nominations on the attached form for Office-Bearers and Members of the Executive Council are invited.  

Please note that the attached form allows for maximum nominations, however, Members may make fewer nominations than is provided for in the form.

The detailed Notice of Meeting, Agenda and nominations received, will be circulated to all Members prior to the Annual General Meeting.
