Zululand Members Aid Remedial School
The Zululand Observer, the weekly newspaper servicing the Zululand area approached our Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Empangeni office on behalf the local remedial school, to assist with a renovation project in order to create an additional classroom.
In order to save on costs rather than building a new structure, they bought two second-hand fibreglass igloos with the intent of retrofitting them, to meet classroom requirements.
They were able to cover the cost of fitting out the first igloo, the second igloo however received its makeover thanks to a community initiative.
The Zululand Observer requested that the Association assist with a drive to acquire the following necessities.
- Slab for floor
- Electrical Cabling and fittings
- Tiles
- Paint Interior and exterior
- Paving
- Air conditioning
- Plumbing and wash basin
Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal contacted its Zululand members and within in a short space of time most of the material and labour needed, had been pledged. Work commenced and the project is now all but concluded.

A plaque is to be mounted to the igloo acknowledging the various sponsors.
