The Provincial Planning Commission is based in the Department of the Premier. The Provincial Planning Commission is inviting interested institutions, organisations, interest groups and individuals who have an interest in participating in the process of reviewing the KZN Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS), to register such interest with the Commission.
The PGDS is intended to be an over-arching strategy document setting out the vision and high-level plans of the Province for the next 10 to 15 years. The document aims to communicate what the Province wants to and needs to achieve in the areas of improving Government service delivery, economic development and job creation, social development (health, education ,welfare etc), governance ,empowerment , spatial development etc .
The PGDS will serve as a powerful guide for more detailed planning of Government at Provincial and Municipal levels, as well as the private sector and civil society. It is an important document, and must be developed further through a consultative process with all the key development stakeholders in the Province.
Opportunity for interested organisations and individuals to do so, are created.
The Provincial Commission has planned a wide range of activities as part of its Communication Plan, which will allow organisations and individuals to interact with the process of developing the new PGDS.
These activities include workshops, an interactive website, an electronic newsletter, an email response service, distribution of written material, etc.
To achieve this objective of maximising the participation of the stakeholders and interested people in the process, a comprehensive database of interested parties are being established. Those registered on the database will receive copies of the draft PGDS document as well as reports from stakeholder engagements and updates.
Interested individuals should send their name, designation, address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address, as well as one or two sentences on what specific areas of interest they have as regards of interest they have in respect of the PGDS.
Organisations should also send the above but add details of the representative/ contact person, the sector the organisation operates in, and its specific areas of interest as regards the PGDS.
