Feedback from our Members and the General Public
 Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Midlands office recently spent time talking with both members of the public and members of the Association (some 15-20 contractors), to enquire as to what their perception is, with regard to the role they believe we fulfill.
We contacted more than 50 private individuals with some 30%, having never heard of the Association or of Find-a-Builder. The rest had heard of Master Builders mostly through friends or acquaintances however less than 10%, knew of Find-a-Builder. Those who had heard of us were all of the opinion that we either exist to help people source reputable builders, or to police quality within the industry.
We spent more time asking contractors what they knew about their Association and they all rated our service as extremely good and helpful. It came as a revelation that the services they had made use of or knew of, represents less than 10% of what we offer.
Our Health and Safety service offering proved to be the best known with almost all members contacted, having made use of this. Tied second with Contractual and Legal advice was our Benefit Fund initiative, flow of information was described as an added benefit.
Some 80% of the contractors we spoke to knew of Find-a-Builder and had experienced some impact from it; albeit small in some cases. The large majority indicated that our Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal "brand" has over time, impacted positively on their business. All cited lack of time, as the core reason for not being more involved in Association activities.
Possibly the most interesting information to come from this exercise is that members in general, only know of and make use of, a small portion of services or products we have on offer. Yet the services that are utilised are of a high quality and impact positively.
So as we spend time digesting this information and deciding what fine tuning needs to occur, our advice to you is to visit www.masterbuilders.co.za and spend time finding out more of what we are about. You are no doubt missing out on a service or product that could either save you money, or add value to your business.
