Construction Stalwart Bids Aveng Grinaker-LTA Building East Farewell
One of the Association's Executive Council Members, Rob Bremner, bid farewell to Aveng Grinaker-LTA on 31 January 2012. Rob held the position of Managing Director and had worked for them for more than 28 years.
At his farewell function held last Tuesday at the Aveng Grinaker-LTA Building East offices in Henwood Road Pinetown an emotional Rob bid farewell to colleagues and friends. He said that it was an honour and pleasure to have worked for Aveng but it was time to move on. Rob made special mention of the great working relationship he had with Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal and in particular the great safety recognition his division had achieved over the years via the National MBSA OHS competition.
- Rob attended school in Zimbabwe.
- Studied at UCT - Engineering Civil
- Worked in Zambia 3.5 years doing mine infrastructure work.
- Moved to Durban to join Steeledale
- March 1984 - June 1988 - Started with Steeledale Manufacturing Services / Industrial Construction Services - as a Contracts Manager
- June 1988 - Transferred to LTA Natal - as a Site Agent
- April 1994 - Appointed to Contracts Manager - Alusaf Projects
- August 1995 - Appointed as an Alternate Director to the Board of LTA KZN Natal
- 1999 to 2000 - Appointed as General Manager of LTA Ltd KZN (Rob was the Operational Director of LTA Limited before the merge between Grinaker Building and LTA)
- 2000 to 2004 - Contracts Director
- 2004 to 2007 - Operations Director overseeing all contracts. Rob played an active part in the Estimating department and was also responsible for all aspects of site control, yard, staff management and ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSASA 18001 including : Yard Director between 2000-2004, SHERQ Director 2000-2007.
- 2007 to present - Managing Director East Division
- Rob has always been a very passionate person, he has a very good working relationship with his colleagues and Rob is particularly successful with implementing Safety within his organisation. Aveng Grinaker-LTA Building East has won many safety awards under his leadership.
Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal wishes Rob all the best with his future endeavours and we are sure that he will continue to be involved with our Association and contribute to the construction industry like he has been doing for many years.
