Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Vuka Makhi Programme supported learners during their grade 11 and 12 years with Saturday and holiday classes. It is anticipated that students will pursue Construction Studies post matric, whilst learners may apply for further support through our Bursary Programme.![]() The journey taking learners from education to employment began in 2019, when they joined the Vuka Makhi Programme in Grade 11. Weekly lessons in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, English, Life Orientation and Basic Computers were interrupted due to the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. During this time, online lessons were delivered, which came with the challenges of the cost of data and unstable internet connections. Notwithstanding these difficulties, the learners persevered and resumed classes on 27 June 2020 upon the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions. These weekly lessons continued until the end of October 2020. We are proud to announce that the Vuka Makhi matric class of 2020 have achieved a 100% pass rate, with 90% achieving Senior Certificate with entrance to Bachelor’s degree studies and 10% achieving entrance to Diploma studies. A total of 36 distinctions were achieved. Nomfundo Slondile Bhukosini of JG Zuma Secondary achieved 7 distinctions. Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal wishes the class of 2020 all the best for their future studies and careers. Prudence Khumalo | Special Projects Manager | |
