Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal understands the numerous industry challenges that members are faced with. Members are reminded that the Association exists to represent the interests of members and to provide them with specialist support services to assist in the successful running of their businesses. To this end we offer a wide range of membership services and members are encouraged take full advantage of it and to get the most of their membership in 2020.

Services Provided by the Association include the following:

LOBBYING & ADVOCACY - Government | Suppliers | Key Industry Stakeholders

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal engages with and lobbies local, provincial and national government as well as suppliers and industry stakeholders with a view to promote and protect its members.

The Association is committed to establishing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders in the building and construction industry. Stakeholders are engaged with to identify common challenges and where possible formulate a common response.

PROMOTING MEMBERS - Master Builders KZN App |Find-A-Builder | Find-A-Supplier

The Master Builders KZN App connects members of the Association to the world of work enabling the public easy access to members. The App along with our Find-A-Builder and Find-A-Supplier web modules, significantly enhances the Associations ability to promote members to the public at large.

Members who are in good standing receive a free listing on these various platforms and may also display the Association logo alongside their own. Associate members are able to create brand awareness by displaying their company logo and contact details electronically on the big screen, situated in the atrium at the Master Builders Centre in Westville. They may also display DL flyers in the brochure wall situated near the reception area.

The Association oversees the promotion of the Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal brand as well as the promotion of members through various online and offline media channels.

BUILDING SERVICES - Contractual | Information | Assistance

Members of Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal enjoy the benefit of being able to contact the Association for free advice relating to building and contractual matters. A site visit may be arranged if necessary.

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal policy is to facilitate the resolution of dispute by negotiation, rather than through expensive and often unnecessary legal process. To this end, the Association offers a dispute resolution and arbitration service.

HEALTH AND SAFETY - Advice| Inspections | Star Grading | Auditing | Consulting

Health and Safety in construction is an exceedingly important undertaking and the need for members to comply with the considerable volume of legislation that governs it has never been more imperative. The excellent safety management services provided by the Association ensures that members receive quality assistance and guidance.

It is the Association's mission to promote a positive culture shift which will facilitate continual improvement. This will in turn contribute towards the elimination of occupational injury, disease and loss as well as the prevention of damage to the environment.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS - Retirement | Provident Fund | Holiday Pay

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal are the Administrators of the KwaZulu-Natal Retirement and Provident Funds.

A retirement fund is part of the fringe benefits that an employer can offer his employees. Apart from the financial security it offers after retirement, it is a form of deferred pay appreciated by employees.

Having a plan that offers savings for retirement which includes risk benefits makes it easier for the employer to attract and retain competent employees.

Plans include the following benefits:

  • Death benefits (5 x Annual Pensionable Salary)
  • Disability benefits (75% of monthly pensionable salary)
  • Funeral benefits (R 20 000 scale)

A plan can be customised to suit your needs. The enhanced benefits are offered at no additional cost to members of the Fund.

The Holiday Pay Stamp Scheme is designed to protect your cash-flow and ease your year-end administration burden.

The Association arranges many formal and informal meetings, functions and events throughout the year. This is an ideal opportunity to network with colleagues in the industry.

In addition to the many free services available to members, members are also entitled to discounted pricing on products and services provided by the Association’s various commercial units. These units include:

  • Café Indaba
  • Conference Centre

Café Indaba is open from Monday to Friday and a free Wi-Fi service is available to all patrons. Catering for all conferences held in the Conference Centre is provided for by Café Indaba

The Print Studio has a comprehensive copy, design and finishing studio and sells a range of contract documents including the JBCC and MBSA range.

The Occupational Health Clinic offers a medical screening service, HIV/AIDs awareness and training, VCT, first aid training, general health training and wellness days. The mobile clinic is able to offer these services across the province, provided there are a sufficient number of participants.

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal has identified that in addition to our standard Occupational Health and Safety services, there is a need within the construction industry for a more comprehensive service. With this in mind we have introduced a variety of Consulting Services which is also available to non-members.

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Training Academy, “by Builders for Builders” is accredited by CETA for the following qualifications:

  • National Certificate: Construction Contracting
  • National Certificate: Supervision of Construction Processes
  • National Certificate: Construction Health and Safety

There are 103 training modules on offer intended to provide access to currently employed candidates, unemployed candidates and school leavers, as well as to facilitate workplace training.

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Recruitment Agency offers a recruitment service which aims to assist its members in identifying skilled and credible employees within the construction sector and beyond.
