At the 2019 Annual awards event, Smith & Winfield and A.G. Hall CC each received the Association’s Platinum Loyalty Award for having celebrated over 100 years of membership.
A.G. Hall CC
A.G. Hall is a Pietermaritzburg based company which specialises in wood flooring, painting and renovations. Established in 1902, it is recognised as the oldest contracting firm in the city. The company has been in the Hall family for 5 generations and a source of genuine pleasure for the family is to reflect on the many buildings that they have worked on, spanning a period of over 115 years. Shortly after they commenced trading in 1902, Ted Hall became actively involved in establishing the Master Builders movement in Pietermaritzburg, making A.G Hall CC a member of the Association since 1902.
Smith & Winfield
Smith & Winfield is the longest established painting and decorating firm in South Africa. The business was founded in 1886 in Russell Street, Durban by Mr S.C. Smith. In 1894, Mr Smith was joined by Mr Frank Winfield and the company became Smith & Winfield. In 1950, Mr Hinton Brown, father of current CEO Chris Brown, bought the company for £600. It has been in the family ever since. Smith & Winfield has been a member of the Association since 1918 and in 2018, celebrated 100 years of membership.
The Association’s salutes both these companies and thanks them for a century of membership.
