Numerous new entrants into our Awards of Excellence have expressed their uncertainty on what to expect as far as the onsite adjudication is concerned. I have therefore decided to write this article to inform new entrants on what to expect and to expel the doubts that may be preventing other members from entering their projects.

The Awards of Excellence co-ordinator will make an appointment with you at least two weeks in advance to judge the project. We do require a member of staff of the entering member who was instrumentally involved in the project to be present in order to guide us around the building or structure. We may also ask your member of staff questions about the project.

We don’t judge the following:
  • Architecture
  • Cleanliness of the building
  • Internal décor

We do judge the following:

  • Structural elements
  • External façade
  • Internal elements
  • Roof
  • Paving
  • Finishes
  • Roadworks

We will not belittle your project in any way and will not try to embarrass you in front of any clients. No comments positive or negative are conveyed to you or to fellow judges. Both judges then score the project independently in order to obtain a non-biased score for each project.

The Association hopes that the above will encourage you to enter the competition in the future.
