Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Durban Career Day 2018

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal hosts its annual open Career Day on:

Date: 11 May 2018
Venue: 40 Essex Terrace, Westville, Durban

The Career Day can accommodate 300 learners split into two sessions:

Session One: 08h30 – 10h30 (150 learners)
Session Two: 11h30 – 13h30 (150 learners)

The Career day focuses on the importance of the construction industry, its critical link to skills development, infrastructure creation and service delivery as well as the role that the people of South Africa have to play in this.

It is evident that most learners go through the school system with very little idea of the career and study opportunities that are available. As a result thereof, many make ill-informed subject decisions.

Central Applications Office (CAO), Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA), motivational speakers, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Universities of Technology, FET Colleges and other training providers are invited to present and engage with learners.

Objectives

The career day offers the following opportunities:

• Exposes learners to the varied career opportunities that the construction industry has to offer
• Exposes learners to the range of educational institutions offering education and training in the           built environment
• Exposes learners to the entry requirements for the various careers and institutions
• Provides role models
• Provides guidance to youth

Invitees

Participants invited to attend this event are:

• Learners in grade 10 to 12 (Maths and Science learners)
• Education and training Institutions
• Construction material suppliers
• Construction entities offering career and bursary opportunities
