
In an article published in the Sunday Tribune, Thobekile Ndlovu was praised for leading a thriving construction company in a male dominated industry.
Proud member of the Association, Thobekile Ndlovu of Thobethulani Trading has been honoured by the Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction Awards by receiving the Project Delivery Excellence of the Year Award in the Grade 7 and up category.
Working in the industry for 15 years has turned into a prosperous journey for Thobekile. She started in 2005 with an architectural and interior design background. She started in 2005 with an architectural and interior design background. Thobekile’s inspiration to go into building stemmed from her desire to directly influence quality standards pertaining to all aspects of the project. Throughout her first project which involved work on the Parliament of Kwazulu-Natal speaker’s cottage, she developed her passion for construction and never looked back.
Thobekile believes that knowledge and experience is key to success and has empowered herself by learning as much as she can with regard to multiple aspects of construction. As a result of hard work, further studies, strong mentors and successful partnerships, Thobekile was able to fortify her position in the construction industry.
She has utilised her industry skills to make positive contribution to communities. Building church offices in Pietermaritzburg, the construction of Mission House in Pietermaritzburg and the painting of a school in Umlazi are amongst the many contributions she has made.
She proudly received the Award for Women in Construction at the Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Annual Awards of Excellence in 2015, and also serves on the Executive Council of Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal. Among other awards received is the Black Excellence Award. Thobethulani Trading has a CIDB grading of 7GB and 6CE which makes Managing Director, Thobekile Ndlovu a shining example and positive role model for women who strive to succeed in the industry.
