Southey Contracting - four million manhours worked without lost time injury

Towards the end of 2018, Southey Contracting KZN achieved an outstanding OHS milestone, of four million manhours worked without Lost Time Injury (LTI) and on 25 February 2019, Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal awarded them with a certificate, in recognition of this noteworthy accomplishment.

The lost time free hours were accumulated over an 8-year period with a staff compliment that peaked at over 500 employees. During this time Southey Contracting KZN successfully completed numerous shutdowns, projects and ongoing maintenance work at the following customer premises:

Sasol	Eskom	Arcelor Mittal SA
Sappi	Illovo Sugar Ltd	Mpact
RBCT	Tronox	South 32
Ushaka Marine World	Afrox	Umfolozi Sugar

Southey Contracting Divisional HSE Manager Kimlen Naidu stated “The key success to this accomplishment is the hard work and dedication of all departments within our organization believing that safety is a value and an integral part of our everyday business. Achieving this milestone is something we are proud of and are also focused on continuing this outstanding performance for years to come".
