
Due to the nature of the construction industry, employees are routinely exposed to a variety of stressors, which can result in significant adverse health effects if not adequately controlled. Reducing the likelihood of these health effects is the responsibility of the employer, as stipulated in section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) 85 of 1993.
Approved Inspection Authorities
Apex Environmental, a SANAS 17020 accredited and Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL) Approved Inspection Authority (AIA), exists to protect the health of employees and help the employer comply with their legal obligations.

1. Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments
A process in which potential health hazards are identified and the extent of exposure is quantified. Results are then compared to legislative standards to assess compliance and the efficacy of the existing control measures. Recommendations are then formulated, providing guidance stipulating how compliance can be achieved.
2. Asbestos Services
Our team of professionals are well learned and trained on the requirements of the Asbestos Abatement Regulations, 2020 and will assist you with all asbestos related issues/concerns. From undertaking asbestos identification and risk assessments, compiling site-specific plans of work (PoW), and bulk sample collection and analysis, to air monitoring and clearance.
3. Environmental Monitoring
By using a systematic process of effective monitoring and implementation of “green” strategies, clients are assured that they are minimising the negative environmental impact of their company, in a financially viable manner.
4. Stack Testing (Isokinetic Testing)
Our sophisticated state-of-the-art instrumentation, as well as staff of experienced professionals, ensures a premier service for clients. Using the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) methods, we can test for a vast array of contaminants from USEPA Method 5: Particulate Matter to USEPA Method 16a: Total Reduced Sulphurs, and everything in between.
5. Training Services
Among the wide list of services offered, the following three training subjects are also provided: Health and Safety (aligning with NQF registered qualifications), Intermediate Level Occupational Hygiene Training (OHTA) courses, and Asbestos Training. These courses aim to equip individuals with the knowledge necessary to Anticipate, Recognise, Evaluate and Control health hazards in the workplace.
